March to early May are the most popular months for pilgrimages. Therefore, we recommend making lodging reservations as early as possible.
Accommodations near temples 20 and 21 are scarce, with only a few options in the area before temple 20. Reservations in this area are particularly challenging.
Additionally, lodging around temple 22 is often unavailable unless booked in advance.
If you can’t find a place to stay, we recommend you use one lodging as a base so you can safely reach the temple and have a place to sleep. There are many lodgings near Temple 19 from Tokushima Station area. To and from them you can get buses and taxis to the temples which are not close to places to stay. If you stay 2 nights at your “base” you can visit temples 20, 21 and 22 more comfortably.
